TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Leviticus 26:3-13
As Moses gives the Israelites the law in Leviticus, God makes the people a wonderful conditional promise: “If you are faithful to Me and My commands, I will bless you abundantly.” God promised them ample rain, agricultural bounty, bread to spare, security in the land, removal of harmful beasts and enemies, and military success. All of this would be theirs on the condition that they choose to “walk in My statutes and observe My commandments and do them” (Leviticus 26:3). God’s chosen people under the Old Law enjoy seasons of great peace when they collectively decide to follow God’s guiding hand, but they also suffer the pains of war, captivity, hunger, and distress when they decide to abandon the Lord.

As much as certain things obviously changed from the Old Testament to the New Testament, God’s promise that we can enjoy peace in our lives when we choose to be faithful to Him has not changed. When we choose a faithful, God-honoring lifestyle as Christians, we are also choosing the peace of mind and spirit that God offers those who diligently seek Him.

Today I will…choose to have peace in my life by following God’s Word as instruction for my daily living. I know that God keeps His promises and I can enjoy the peace the Israelites had if I decide to fully obey God.
